The afternoon of 22 October 2022, was a memorable moment for the Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Nerul as the Rector Major, visited the school for the first time to inaugurate a new building.
He was accorded a traditional welcome by the Don Bosco family with Lezim, a folk-dance of the state of Maharashtra, which was followed by the visiting of the community fridge, a unique initiative of feeding the hungry, which is in service of the poor and the needy, since the time of the pandemic. The Rector Major also unveiled the branding wall in the presence of various dignitaries.
The Rector Major then proceeded to inaugurate the new building of Don Bosco Academy, a hub for young minds to explore their creativity and dabble with entrepreneurship. The new wing has been carefully designed to offer students the best of opportunities in the field of mass media, communication and science.
The public reception and felicitation offered to the Rector Major was marked by a scintillating performance of traditional dances by the Oratory children. This was followed by the projection of a docu-film depicting the past, present and future of Don Bosco School Nerul. Other traditional Maharashtrian folk, Lavni / Gondhal dance performances by the school students followed.
Fr. Ángel in his address appreciated the great work done by the Salesians, the members of the Salesian Family and the teachers, especially in the field of education in that region. The Rector Major for his part added colour to the cultural events with the guitar and a few Spanish melodies. The excitement around his visit, can be attributed not only to his role as the Rector Major but also for the unique qualities that he possesses as a person.
