Saint John Bosco, popularly known as Don Bosco (Italian for Father Bosco) was born at Becchi, in Piedmont, Italy on August 16, 1815. He lost his father when he was just 3 years old and he grew up in abject poverty. He had to face severe hardships and was unable to attend any regular school. As he grew up his own poverty and under privileged position made him increasingly identify with others like him. He decided to become a priest and was ordained as one in 1841. He then dedicated his entire life to the comfort, help, education and up-liftment of poor street urchins - whether in the streets, factories or prisons. This was in an era when Europe was under the grip of the Industrial Revolution, and many young people who came to the cities to study or in search of work fell an easy prey to the many social evils of the time. He died on 31st January 1888, and was canonized as a Saint on 1st April 1934. His followers are called Salesians.

Inauguration of Don Bosco Academy
The inauguration of the new academy building was the fulfilment from vision to reality. On the memorable day of 22 October 2022, the Rector Major Ángel Fernández Artime, visited the school for the first time to inaugurate the new building. After a traditional welcome by the students of Don Bosco School with Lezim and folk dances like the Lavni/ Gondha from Maharashtra he visited the various initiatives in the academy.
The Rector Major then proceeded to inaugurate the new building of Don Bosco Academy, a hub for young minds to explore their creativity and dabble with entrepreneurship. The new wing has been carefully designed to offer students the best of opportunities in the field of mass media, communication and science.
Fr. Ángel in his address appreciated the great work done by the Salesians, the members of the Salesian Family and the teachers, especially in the field of education in that region.
